Wolves vs. Ajax
After the win on Saturday the Wolves wanted a repeat as they travelled to Ajax on Sunday, to take on the top team in the West division.
Ajax/Pickering opened the scoring in the first couple minutes of the game. The boys battled hard and were able to tie the game up half way through the first, with a goal from Patterson, assisted by Hewitt and Corneil. Ajax/Pickering answered back scoring less than one minute after our goal. Heyes was able to tie the game up in the middle of the first, on a goal assisted by Worsley and Jukes. Ajax/Pickering would score two more but Corneil assisted by Patterson would cut the lead to one, scoring with 6 seconds left in the first.
The boys continued to battle in the second, holding Ajax/Pickering to one goal while scoring three of their own. Goals were scored by Hewitt, Fergusson and Heyes. All three goals were unassisted. This gave the Wolves a one goal lead heading into the third.
Ajax/Pickering came out strong in the third netting 4 goals. Although the boys were able to score one more in the third, Best from Peterkin and Worsley, it just was not enough. The game ending in a 9 - 7 final.
Matthews fought hard between the pipes and the team definitely kept it close making Ajax/Pickering work hard for their 2 points.
The coaching staff is proud of the character shown by the team and would like to thank them for a great weekend of hockey!
