Kyle Bonis goes to Division 1 Frozen Four Final in Tampa
Submitted By bm on Friday, April 6, 2012
Central Ontario Wolves Alumni Kyle Bonis will play in the Division 1 Frozen Four Final in Tampa in April.

Kyle Bonis has been playing hockey at the Division I level for Ferris State University.  They have had an outstanding season in which they finished in 1st place in the CCHA.  They were eligible to compete in the March Madness for Ice Hockey.  They were selected to compete in the Midwest Regional last weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Game 1 was against the University of Denver.  Ferris State won the game, 2 to 1 and advanced to the Championship against Cornell University.  In the Championship game which was very close, Ferris won 2 to 1.  This win advanced the team to the NCAA Frozen Four in Tampa Bay.

For Rob and Brenda, it was quite exciting to see their son's dream of competing in a National Championship come to reality.  Kyle was interviewed twice by ESPN and I can tell you that the hype up to the Frozen Four this week has been a whirlwind for the team with reporters and television crews watching and doing interviews and answering the question, "where is Ferris State?".  For the hockey program, it is a huge boost for the University and its recruiting.

The schedule for Tampa Bay has come out and Ferris will play Union on Thursday, April 5th and Boston College will play the University of Minnesota that evening.  The format is win and you're in, so we are hoping that on Saturday, Kyle's team will be competing for the National Championship.  We are keeping our fingers crossed.
