COWHA TRYOUT POLICY
(effective immediately)

Official Tryout Periods are:

  •  U10- U13 = Saturday April, 20th- 26th
  • U14- U16 = Monday April, 22nd- 28th

 To Participate in any COWHA Tryout:

  • Under Hockey Canada Residency Rules, a ‘Resident Player’ must reside “where she/he habitually resides with their parents”, and such residence must be within the boundaries of the COWHA zone. 
  •  ALL Players must have a Permission to Skate Form (PTS) from their Home Centre and present it at the first tryout.
  •  U10- U16 Non-resident players (“imports”) are invited to participate in our tryouts providing they present a current PTS from their home centre and a waiver from their home AAA zone and they have registered and paid online through our Tryout Passport process.

Special Note:

  •  All player’s prior to the first tryout must register and pay, by PayPal the $150.00 Passport Fee online. This applies to non-resident players anytime during the tryout process.
  •  As in the past, a player must be offered a card (place on the team) or a waiver immediately after the third tryout.
  •  For many age divisions, tryouts will continue after the third tryout.  Any player not offered a card after the third tryout, may either utilize their waiver to tryout elsewhere, or continue to tryout for a COWHA team.
  •  There shall be no refunds, in any proportion, of the $150 Passport Fee.
  •  There will be no waivers issued for resident players until after the third tryout (where applicable).

Teams may continue tryouts beyond this end date, however, in accordance with new OMHA Regulations, all resident (“in-zone”) players must be presented with either an Offer of Commitment by end of the 3RD TRYOUT/SKATE or they may request a waiver.  There is no time limit for non-resident (“import”) players.

PLAYERS WITHOUT A PERMISSION TO SKATE FORM/WAIVER (IF REQ'D) AND NO PAID PASSPORT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY TRYOUT UNTIL BOTH ARE RECEIVED.
