Boys in Pink
This is a wonderful story written by one of our boys Grandmother.....

A sea of pink sweaters, pink laces and pink taped hockey sticks were a site to behold on October 20...when the Minor Atom (9 year olds) and the Minor Midgets (15 year olds) stepped on the ice to play their respective games.

We were in a hockey rink and the cause was Breast Cancer.

When I asked Ethan, my grandson who plays on the Minor Atom Team, what this meant to him....he simply said "It's for the women Nana"...it was then I knew he and his Team Mates truly did understand.

Gage, a player on this Team has an Aunt battling breast cancer as does the co-Manager of the Minor Atom Team, Deanna. To start the event pucks were dropped by Aunt Nanette and Deanna, a moving and a TRUE moment that brings the ravages of breast cancer to life! Brave ladies!

Breast Cancer impacts everyone...not just the person who has it...but their families as well. There was something that you could feel as the boys were playing...It was NOT just about winning the game. When these young boys skated out on the ice there was a sense of pride...there was a sense of understanding...there was a sense of doing their part to make it better anyway they could. They wanted to win for Aunt Nanette...they wanted to win for all the people they and/or their parents knew that had cancer. This game had taken on a different meaning.

Money was raised through selling tickets! pink T-shirts! auctions! donations and more! The Management, Coaches, Trainers and Parents all supported the decision. Truly a Team effort! I want to acknowledge the Wolves organization and trust that perhaps in reading this, more young men will acknowledge and support Breast cancer research. The goal was $10,000...they raised $10,500! TADA!

Life is so precious...sometimes we get so involved in life that we forget what is important. We forget to live. We forget to take the moments. We forget to take quality time with those we love. We forget that in one second all of this can be taken from us!
Life is a gift we have been given...let's live each moment to the fullest!
